This is Lightfoot, a solar scooter conceived by San Francisco-based R&D outfit Otherlab that, it claims, will be available to buy in the US from January. The most eye-catching feature are the two side panels covered in solar cells that will hopefully keep you from needing a charger.

The Lightfoot scooter comes with two large solar panels so it doesn’t have to plug in. With a typical electric bike, charging the battery can be a little annoying—you have to remember to bring the battery or the whole bike inside,

While many EVs use solar panels to extend their range, those panels often don't look like they'd make much of a difference. Such is certainly not the case with the Lightfoot scooter, however, the sides of which are covered with panels that reportedly provide up to 18 miles of extra range per day.
